A blower is blowing to an inform batsman and he misses the ball and it hit’s on his pad. The blower is appealing….. appealing… (Umpire unmoved) ... appealing and finally the umpire raise his finger. The blower is celebrating the wicket and a great disappointed batsman walking towards the pavilion.
But there is a
big question. It was out or not? The ball could miss the off stamp, leg stamp, height might be an issue and moreover there might be an inside edge. So a lot of questions there and many times the umpire feel hesitation to take decision.
Now a big question, why I am telling this? What I want to say? I like Cricket, I love cricket and I enjoy Cricket so much. As a Bangladeshi I love our team and it is always a special day if Bangladesh have international match on that day.
It was 31st march, 2013 I was watching the T20 match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh was chasing 198 runs. At one stage after 7 over Bangladesh was 50/2. Then our main batsman Mohammad Ashraful went over the blower. He hit two successive six and one four. Then he was given LBW in a very poor ball from NLTC Perera. It was very disappointment for the entire spectator of Bangladesh.

Umpire took long time to give him out. He was on big hesitation and he gave out depending on blower appeal. If there is any option to ask third umpire then I think he definitely asked for third umpire help.
Here is the cricinfo commentary on that moment
“NLTC Perera to Mohammad Ashraful, OUT, he's been given leg before, after a shout from Perera that went on and on and on, Ashraful swung and missed a full toss, but did that strike him outside leg? yes, it has, that is seriously poor from the umpire, at a crucial stage in the chase, against a batsman who's just hit three successive boundaries, the umpire has just caved into Thisara's long appeal”
We can easily understand form this commentary that, it was very poor decision went against a team who was chasing a very big score. And it was against their key batsman.
I am not telling if he was not given out then Bangladesh would win the match. But BD can go ahead strongly. Though BD fought strongly and they lost the match by only 17 runs. So there in a question of entire BD supporters mind, if Ash(Mohammad Ashraful) was there then the result could be changed.
This is only one example but it happened in almost every match. Sometimes the decision goes in fever of batsman sometime blowers. And cricket is such like game that a wrong decision in crucial stage can change the result. So in this modern age question is that, why we are not taking the help of technology?
